Hi Kirk,
I found your post online about your brother Kenny today. Small world...I was just talking to my dad today about some family lineage. I hope this makes it to you. My father's grandmother, whom I believe is your mother's mother, is Nora Ari (Ary) we don't know the spelling. My dad was telling me how his grandma Ari was divorced from her first huband, Patrick Manning. Nora was later remarried to a man named George Gregorio, who for some reason changed his last name to Karo. Nora became Nora Karo. My dad believes Nora had two sisters, but cannot remember their names. One of them married a "Hubbs". Her son was Kenny Hubbs. My dad remembers this because of Kenny's Rookie of the Year award. My dad's family did not stay in touch with Nora's siblings so did not have many details to share.
Please let me know if you are related to Nora Ari (Gregorio) Karo. She would be your aunt I believe. As I recreate my dad's family tree, I would be very happy to know we have more cousins. Nora would be my great grandmother and your mom could possibly be my great aunt?? I think?

Hello Kirk,
I am a big fan of your brother. I discovered him in a sports illustrated magazine about baseball players from the past. I was 14 then and am 35 now. I am a Hubbs. I collect all his cards and he was an amazing player.

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the heads-up, and yes, I did see a week or so ago that there were a couple of that card listed on Ebay. But with the asking prices being more than $100 higher from what I paid only a couple years ago, and more than $100-150 higher than other commons in the set, I have to pass on those offerings. I suspect that folks are trying to grab a premium from family members that just isn't warranted, as I know of no other reason that Gene's cards would command a higher price than others in the set.

Hello Jason, I'm sorry that my story was deleted but just to let you know It wasn't me either. Anyway as Isaid I am the youngest brother of Ken Hubbs who was the rookie of the year in the National league 1962, 20 years old and broke two National League fielding records Most consequtive games without an error 78 and 418 chances. and the only rookie to ever win a gold glove at second base to this day. I was around 6 yrs old when Ken was a senior in highschool. But it 's pretty clear to me about certain things even at that young of age. I remember all of the college scouts from all over the country all the time for his whole senior year. Basketball and football coaches, and major league scoutts. But the man that I remember the most was Gene Handley the Scout for the Chicago Cubs. I remember my father and mother always talking about how good a man he was and how professional of a person he was. Ken was All American in football, basketball in highschool his senior year and played in both games for the west team as starting QB and Starting Guard for the west in BasketBall super athlete in everything he tried, gifted beyond belief. My mother and father have told me that they didn't know what team that he was going to sign with or what college to attend and to what sport he would play in college. no one has those options at the highest level of sports but he did. but he and my father made the decision to sign with the cubs the day after he graduated from highschool early in the morning with all of the new media there many coaches in all the sports and he chose the Cubs. I think that my family trusted Mr. Handley. and that was the best thing for him to do because of the great opportunity was to good to pass up. My mother and father stayed friends with Gene for many years after and until my fathers death in 1985 he was 70. and he would tell his friends how gene handley was the man that saw kens talent at a very young age. My mo ther is still going strong at 92 and she always felt priviledged to know and be friends with Gene and was saddend to hear he had passed away in April. I will share more stories with you at another time about Ken other acomplishments as a youth and what a impact his life has been on the kids and the local community where he grew up here in so. Ca. and how the Ken Hubbs Foundation which was Formed right after his death has carried on his legacy for over 45 yrs and his values he had to become the Ideal roll model for kids to look up to by honoring all the best Highschool senior boys best athletes in 23 highschools in the inland empire and surounding areas to an awards banquet where there is one over all best athlete awarded the KEN HUBBS AWARD WINNER FOR THAT YEAR. AND THEIR HAS BEEN 45 WINNERS WITH GREAT ATHLETS IN EVERY MAJOR SPORT IN THE PROS AND HALL OF FAMERS. i WILL END FOR TODAY. GOOD DAY. KIRK HUBBS
